Willow (Pick Word #8)

There are about 400 species of salix, which is more known as willow tree, but I don't know why it is remembered as a tree of sadness. Maybe it's because was first mentioned as the tree by the river of Babylon, where the Jews cried about lost Zion (Psalm 137). But we can find a lot of useful functions in its ingredients.Willow trees leaves were used for medical care in ancient Egypt, by American Indians and the Aspirin later. We can find it in food, literature and songs. As part of Magnificent Bloom series, I've chosen five songs which deals with that beautiful tree (Most of them are sad, sorry....) by Doves, Marissa Nadler, Foreign Fields, The Field Mice and Hope Sandoval And The Warm Inventions...

1) Doves - Willow's Song (Taken From Lost Sides, 2003)

2) The Field Mice - Willow (Taken From For Keeps, 1991)

3) Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions - There's A Willow (Taken From Through The Devil Softly, 2009)

4) Marissa Nadler - Lily, Henry And The Willow Trees (Taken From The Saga Of Mayflower May, 2005)

5) Foreign Fields - Where The Willow Tree Died (Taken From Anywhere But Where I Am, 2012)
