We're Having Fun #1: Songs That Make Us Work Better - Silverbean Style

Silverbean

From time to time, I get a few letters from some of you. Tim Pike from Silverbean, a digital marketing agency, shared with me some songs they like to listen while they are working together. I thought it was a great idea and offered him to write it shortly. The result is down here and you are more than welcome to share the songs that make you feel good.

Silverbean Tunes

Silverbean are a digital marketing agency based in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. We work long hours, and always need new fresh music to entertain us during the day, and help motivate us throughout the day.

Our top 10 favourites are (in no particular order):

Big Sean ft. Kendrick Lamar & Jay Electronics - Control
I personally love the instrumental to this song, but also its length. A lot of publicity has risen because of Lamar’s verse ‘calling other rappers out’ and causing some tension in the music industry at the moment. Even some rappers have started to reply to this verse.
Sierra Leone- Mt Eden Dupstep
Need to get fired up on that Monday morning to start the week? Need to get pumped up for that work out? This is your song.
Dirty Gold - California Sunrise
Some called it the best summer single of 2011, with its laid back riffs and vocals that evoke summer. If you’re a fan of Surfer Blood or Alt J, this is one for you.
Destiny's Child - Say My Name (Cyril Hahn Remix)
If you haven’t heard of Cyril Hahn, you should have. Vancouver’s remix boy wonder turns R&B into something surreal and entirely new to your ears. This is good filler on a playlist, and makes for a relaxed atmosphere.

Foo Fighters- Everlong
An absolute classic (released in 1997), that helps us when we’ve got that mid-week gloom. Apparently Dave Grohl wrote this song in 45 mins when the band wasn’t doing too well; he had recently filed for divorce, and was homeless.
Oasis- Supersonic
Apparently Noel Gallagher wrote this song so quickly, that’s where he got the name ‘Supersonic’ from. It’s one of those ‘let’s get up and go’ tunes, that can help anyone finish that hard project they’re working on, or you can hear the person at the back of the office singing along.

Bob Marley- No Woman No Cry
Perfect for that chilled out Friday afternoon, I guess it’s a song about not giving up, and powering through to the end. Way too chilled out for such a deep meaning in my opinion.
Plan B - The Recluse
This is one incredibly talented individual. Turned soul singer from rapper, he’s broken down boundaries in Britain in the music and film industry. We love this relaxed song, which is uplifting for our office.
MGMT- Electric Feel
This is that song you can never hear too many times. I love the laid back groove and catchy melody. One of those that you’ll catch yourself singing in the shower (rather awfully you’ll probably find!)

Avicii- Wake Me Up
We came across this song by complete luck, and love it! It’s by the Swedish producer and DJ Avicii featuring Aloe Blacc and work from Icubus’ Mike Einziger.
So there you have it, those are our favourite songs to motivate us here at Silverbean and to think of some wacky creative ideas internally and for our clients! We hope you take a listen to our favourites, and like them as much as we like them!
